Sneezing California King Snake, please help!?
my 4 year old california king snake has been sneezing for a couple weeks, she doesnt seem to have a cold, nothing has changed in her tank , everything seems normal , except for these sneezes, they happen 1-2 times a night and sometimes during the day mainly at night and im very worried for her. please help me.
Your snake could be sneezing because something may be irritating her nasal passages. Sometimes a dusty substrate, cigarette smoke or even some other airborne irritant can cause sneezing.
There is also a chance that she could be developing a respiratory infection so keep an eye on her and watch for any bubbling from the nostrils, wheezing and constantly keeping her head pointing up.
In the meantime, clean the cage, remove the substrate and replace it with paper towels or newspaper. Raise the temperature another 10 degrees and make sure the humidity is low. If it is the beginnings of a respiratory infection this should knock it out. If the sneezing continues, gets worse or any of the symptoms I mentioned develop then get her to a reptile vet.
